Exhibition Space Set to Double in Jakarta
According to various media reports, exhibition space in Jakarta is set to double by 2014, as an extra 150,000 square meters of exhibition space will be added through the addition of three to four newly-built venues.
The largest addition, named the Alam Sutera International Exhibition and Convention Center, will contribute an expected 100,000 sq. m. of exhibition space, as well as a plenary hall, which will seat 10,000 for conventions. The venue reportedly will be situated in Tangerang which is approximately half an hour away from Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, Jakarta’s main international airport.
Indra Sukirno, CEO of Jakarta Convention & Exhibition Bureau, said, “The construction of these new centres will position Jakarta in the international association meetings market. We now can look for more large-scale events [to host].” She also added that the completion of the new centres will bring Jakarta’s total exhibition space to 300,000 sq. m. and its convention hall capacity to seating of 30,000.
