UBM Concludes Inaugural Mumbai Jewellery and Gem Fair
UBM India, subsidiary of London-listed UBM, concluded its inaugural Mumbai Jewellery and Gems Fair (MJGF) at the Bombay Exhibition Centre (BEC) with more than 280 exhibitors. UBM reports some 4,800 visitors attended the trade fair during three days, which ran earlier this month Dec 9-11.
The new event brings the total of jewellery trade shows in India to three, which includes two other events in Hyderabad and Chennai, as well as internationally established shows in Hong Kong, China, Japan and Turkey.
International pavilions present at this year’s MJGF included countries, such as Belgium, Hong Kong, Israel, Italy, Sri Lanka and Thailand.
Sanjeev Khaira, managing director of UBM India, said, “The Mumbai version of the Jewellery & Gems Fair was a big success. The feedback received from exhibitors, manufacturers and associations was overwhelmingly positive. We have announced next year’s dates as 6-8 January 2013, and we can’t wait to oversee the growth and development of this fantastic launch show. We have demonstrated there is a real need for an exhibition like this to take place in Mumbai, which remains India’s commercial centre.”
