Earlier this week, NASDAQ-listed Global Sources opened its Mobile Electronics exhibition running from 18th to 21st October at Hong Kong’s AsiaWorld-Expo (AWE). Featuring some 2,600 booths, the show focused on smartphones, tablets, wearable devices and mobile accessories. October is set to be the busiest MICE month at Marina Bay Sands as the integrated resort welcomes 17 major tradeshows and key conferences. It is the highest number of tradeshows and conferences to be held at Marina Bay Sands in a single month since its opening in 2010. More than half of these events at Sands Expo and Convention Centre are repeat shows and they include notable names such as ITB Asia, Singapore International Energy Week and Franchising & Licensing Asia. Tarsus Group has appointed Mark Temple-Smith as CEO Asia. Temple-Smith has more than 20 years’ experience in the global exhibitions industry and has led and developed successful businesses in Europe, Africa and Asia. Temple-Smith will be joining Tarsus from ITE Group plc, where he is Regional Director for Asia. GL Events signed a joint venture agreement with the Yuexiu Group to build a new convention centre in Guangzhou. GL Events was represented by Mr. Olivier Ginon and the Yuexiu Group was represented by Mr. Zhang Zhaoxing. The opening of the first phase is planned to be completed in 2019 and will feature a 50,000 m2 convention centre in centre of Guangzhou. The Guangzhou Yuexiu International Congress Centre will be located in the historic Yuexiu district of Guangzhou.
