A strong market for discount apparel and accessories, as well as a growing manufacturer confidence were among the driving forces at the OFFPRICE trade show Feb. 16-19 at the Sand Convention and Expo Center in Las Vegas.
Owned by U.K.-based Tarsus Group, OFFPRICE was part of the Las Vegas's biannual Fashion Week, which spread over several venues, including the Las Vegas Convention Center and Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino.

Twelve years ago, Joel Davis sat down and wrote up a business plan outlining a goal of setting up a company that was literally a ‘trade show incubator’ in which he would look for ideas or actual shows that his company would acquire and grow until it was time for them to be sold.
That plan has been successfully realized many times over, with Davis’ company that he is founder and CEO of, JD Events, shepherding several events from their nascent stages to profitable enterprises.

The Guangzhou Electrical Building Technology show has confirmed nearly 200 exhibitors are signed up for its 2014 edition, taking place June 9-12 at the China Import and Export Fair Complex.

Tim Cobbold was named the new CEO of U.K.-based UBM, taking his new position and a seat on the board May 6.
Cobbold will replace David Levin, UBM’s current CEO, who announced he intended to step down in September last year, with his departure effective March 1.

VNU Exhibitions Asia Pacific, a joint venture between VNU Exhibitions Europe and the TCC Exhibition & Convention Centre, has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Federation of Asian Veterinary Associations (FAVA) to improve content and management of livestock industry trade fairs.

Informa Exhibitions’ subsidiary, Informa Life Science Exhibitions, expanded its MEDLAB series to Singapore. The inaugural show, MEDLAB Asia Pacific, was held from 18th to 20th February 2014 at the Marina Bay Sands venue.
