Clarion Events North America Elevates Liz Irving to CEO

Privately owned event and exhibition industry organizer Clarion Events North America has promoted Liz Irving to CEO. Since joining the company in May 2018, Irving has steadily moved up the ranks, assuming the helm as the company’s first-ever president, North America in August 2023

The announcement, made on December 2, recognizes Irving’s exceptional leadership and transformative vision that have significantly contributed to the company’s growth and industry collaboration, according to Clarion officials. 

“Liz has consistently demonstrated an ability to identify new opportunities, navigate complex challenges, and drive exceptional results,” said Greg Topalian, former CEO and current chairman of Clarion Events North America. “Her leadership as President opened doors to meaningful partnerships, expanded our market reach, and laid the foundation for a thriving future. I have no doubt her vision as CEO will continue to transform our business.”

As president of Clarion Events North America, Irving was instrumental in driving strategic initiatives that have opened new revenue streams and created transformative business opportunities, according to Clarion officials. Under her guidance, the division has not only achieved robust growth but has also embraced innovation and a customer-first operating model. 

Irving’s presidency has fostered a culture of accountability and collaboration within the organization. By empowering the success of her team, she has cultivated a high-performing workforce that consistently delivers outstanding, standard-setting event experiences, according to Clarion officials. Additionally, the company has been recognized as a Great Place to Work for three consecutive years. 

Big picture 

Beyond her role at Clarion, Irving is actively involved in various industry boards, including SISO, UFI, Revenue Room Connect, and several technology groups, where she advocates for innovation and collaboration. Her influence in shaping the future of the events industry is underscored by her ability to anticipate trends and respond agilely to evolving customer needs, as well as bringing colleagues along with her on that journey.

In her new role, Irving will report directly to Topalian while overseeing all divisions except for the newly formed Clarion Connect division.
