The sixth Pacific Rim Meeting on Electrochemical and Solid-State Science (PRiME) is expected to draw a record 4,000 attendees this week to the Hawai‘i Convention Center. Interior Lifestyle China, the China International Trade Fair for Household Products and Accessories, has attracted a 10-percent increase in exhibitors to its recent show, compared with 2011. The Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau is making a significant investment; US$30 million for a three-year plan that will focus on attracting mega-events from key Asian and ASEAN+6 markets. The plan, which targets corporate Incentive travel, includes the launch of the ASEAN Visitors Promotion Campaign. Marketing Design Group was bought by its executive vice president, Kimberly Hardcastle-Geddes, and Vincent Polito, president of VP International, for an undisclosed sum. The New South Wales (NSW) State Government has announced plans to create an interim exhibition site at Glebe Island for major exhibitions displaced during the three-year redevelopment of the Sydney International Convention, Exhibition and Entertainment Precinct (SICEEP) at Darling Harbour. The interim venue will be named the Glebe Island Expo and includes a 15,000 square meter pavilion with a further 10,000 square meters available for large exhibitions and trade shows. Shanghai, 3rd October: Reed Exhibitions has announced the launch of the inaugural Oceanology International China at the INTEX Shanghai next year. The show will be held from 3rd to 5th September 2013. i2i Events Group, formerly Emap Connect, announced the acquisition of the Coil Winding, Insulation and Electrical Manufacturing Exhibitions (CWIEME) portfoliofrom private owners Timothy and Joanne House. This is i2i’s first acquisition since its re-branding. The financial details of the acquisition were not disclosed. As part of the Indonesian government’s strategy to promote trade and business through MICE activities, a large new exhibition centre will be built in Jakarta. The new venue, the Jakarta International Exhibition and Convention Centre (JIECC), will be located in the centre of the city.
