Schaffer Brought on Board at HelmsBriscoe to Expand Into Trade Show Segment
Scottsdale, Ariz.-based HelmsBriscoe already has strong stakes in the corporate and association markets, but in order to expand into the trade show realm, the company has hired industry veteran Adam Schaffer.
"Adam's addition to HelmsBriscoe is very exciting as we continue to expand our presence domestically and internationally,” said Richard Harper, executive vice president of HelmsBriscoe.
He added, "Adam is a proven leader in the trade show industry and we are confident he will be a highly sought after resource for our clients and our Associates."
Schaffer’s responsibilities will be primarily to help HelmsBriscoe expand in to the trade show segment, offering the industry a “leading value proposition to show organizers across the globe,” Harper said.
His key role will be to identify show organizers that would benefit from HelmsBriscoe’s extensive experience in identifying and negotiating with venues and helping them increase revenues, while reducing cost and risk, Harper added.
"I am honored and excited to join the HelmsBriscoe team,” Schaffer said. “ I am thrilled that in this new role I will be able to continue to work with and serve the trade show industry to offer the ultimate ‘win’ for our clients, their businesses and their valued attendees and exhibitors."
Schaffer, who will be based in Los Angeles, brings more than 20 years of experience in media and tradeshows to HelmsBriscoe.
Most recently, he was president of Media Revenue Partners, a media and events sales and consulting firm based in L.A.
Clients there included AARP, Trade Show Internet, Spark Interactive and Tarsus Online Media/TSNN. Prior to that, he was group publisher at 1105 Media, Inc. where he oversaw the Office Technology Aftermarket Group and the Environmental Group portfolios.
Prior to joining 1105 Media, Schaffer was publisher of Tradeshow Week at Reed Business Information, where he launched a variety of products and events, including the Tradeshow Week Fastest 50 annual conference and awards gala.
Previously, he held senior sales and management positions at Penton Media, Worth Media, the Daily Journal Corporation and the James G. Elliott Company. He has served as a member of the American Business Media (ABM) Events Council and the EDPA Foundation Board.
Currently, he is a member of the board of advisors of the UCLA Lab School in Los Angeles.
Schaffer holds a Master’s Degree in Communications Management from the Annenberg School for Communication at the University of Southern California, and a Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism, also from USC.
