Freeman recently came out with a report, the Freeman Connections Report, which looks at the trends impacting the face-to-face event industry. Using the insight they’ve gained from producing more than 15,000 events each year, the report highlights 10 key technology and device trends they feel are having or will be having an impact on events.
The 10 technology and device trends highlighted are big data, 3D printing, augmented reality, proximity technology, wearable technology, mobile internet, second screen, telepresence and virtual events, flexible technology and nano-technology.

Trade Show News Network (TSNN) has unveiled the 2013 TSNN Top 50 Canadian Trade Show list of rankings.
Culled from show management and data supplied to TSNN, the list represents the top 50 trade shows held last year ranked by net square footage in Canada. The full list can be found at: http://www.tsnn.com/toplists-cdn.
Snagging the No. 1 spot once again for 2013 was Regina Exhibition Association’s Canada's Farm Progress Show, with a whopping 1,232,670 net square foot showfloor at Evraz Place in Regina, Saskatchewan.

June was a very good month for the city of Boston, with the Massachusetts Convention Center Authority signing 38 contracts for events, breaking the previous best-month record of 30 events booked in December 2005.
The events signed in June are expected to generate 472,787 future hotel room nights in the city, which also tops the December 2007 previous high month of 435,484 room nights by 8.5 percent.

Starting next month and expected to take a year to complete, the Los Angeles Convention Center will receive a $10 million upgrade designed to “enhance the customer experience and to help attract new shows,” according to Los Angeles Tourism & Convention Board officials.
Work will occur around shows and events scheduled in the center.

Germany-based Messe München International will add ISPO SHANGHAI to its exhibition portfolio, which already includes ISPO BEIJING
The new event is set to be a strong, segment-overlapping sports business platform in the key growth market of China, according to show organizers.
The event’s venue and date – as well as the exhibition itself – were determined in in-depth discussions with industry participants.

There seems to be no slowing down for the Chinese exhibition industry, with the country posting the most growth in five years, as well as a plethora of new centers being built.
UFI, The Global Association of the Exhibition Industry, released the 10th edition of its annual Report on the Trade Fair Industry in Asia, and net space sold in the overall Asian trade show market jumped by 6.6 percent in 2013 to more than 17.3 million net square meters (186 million net square feet), compared with 16.31 million net sq. m. (175 million net sq. ft.) in 2012.

Reed Sinopharm Exhibitions, a joint venture between Reed Exhibitions, the world’s leading events organizer, and Sinopharm, China's largest state-owned pharmaceutical group, will launch The Health Industry Summit (“tHIS”) next year in Shanghai.
This new event, to be held May 15-18 at the National Exhibition and Conference Center, which is the world’s largest single block exhibition complex, will combine a Summit program of more than 100 conferences with a massive 260,000 sqm exhibition area.

Last week, Hong Kong-listed Pico Far East Holdings announced its interim results for the six months ended April 30.
Revenues were US$214 million, a slight increase by 1.7 percent, compared with the same period in 2013.
However, profits in the period dropped by 7.1 percent year-on-year, to US$11 million. Dilute earnings per share in the six-month period were HK$0.0713 (US$0.0092).
Pico’s largest business segment in the six-month period was the exhibition & event marketing services, generating US$160 million, or almost 75 percent of total revenues.

Bangkok Exhibition Services Ltd, a member company of the Allworld Exhibition Alliance, will launch its new CommuniCast Myanmar at a new larger venue, Myanmar Event Park, from 18th to 20th November 2014.
Myanmar Event Park, located at the West central side of Yangon, will offer 6,000 m2 of exhibition space, which can accommodate more exhibitors as well as hosting concurrent associated industry events. Themed “Building Networks, Expanding Communities”, the inaugural CommuniCast Myanmar will also include a number of conferences and seminars.
