The AsiaWorld-Expo (AWE) has announced another year of business growth with space sold at the venue increasing by more than 20% for a second consecutive year. In total, more than 20 million square feet (1.86 million m2) of venue space was sold in 2012. Additionally, around 100 inaugural large-scale EXPOtainment events were hosted at the venue this year, which includes large international and regional exhibitions and conferences, corporate banquets, and concerts. The biennial India Auto Expo motor show will relocate from its current venue at Pragati Maidan in New Delhi to the India Expo Centre and Mart in Greater Noida at the next edition. The change was based on serious traffic and visitor management problems reported by attendees and the Indian Trade Promotions Organisation (ITPO) at this year’s show. Auto Expo was last held from 7th to 11th January 2012, and will be changed to run from 6th to 12th February 2014. Driven by strong sales at home and abroad in 2012, Messe Frankfurt will be the first German trade show organizer to pass the €500 million sales mark, according to company officials. “We expect to generate sales of around €538 million – the highest ever in the history of our group to date,” said Wolfgang Marzin, Messe Frankfurt’s president and CEO. Technology seemed to be the star attraction of the Expo! Expo! showfloor this year. Even exhibitors who were not technology companies were integrating tech into their product or service offerings. While there were no ground breaking new products launched at this event, what was new was the use of existing technology and the conversation around it. Mobile event apps were back again this year, but whereas last year the conversation was all about usability and content, this year those vendors are focused on data and year-round communication.
