A lot of technology companies are focusing on an app for this and an app for that, but a company based in Isreal, MUV Interactive, has come up with a small, inexpensive gadget that packs a big experience punch. BIRD is a wearable device that fits on your index finger and senses everything your fingers are doing in space. It allows you to do everything you might do on a tablet device such as touch and gestures, but BIRD is remarkable in that it allows you to do all those things while 100 feet away from that device. The 2017 International Buyer Program (IBP) and International Buyer Program SELECT www.export.gov/ibp application period now is open. Interested shows have until Jan. 8, 2016, to apply. The Abu Dhabi National Exhibitions Company (ADNEC) is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year, and they have quite a bit to celebrate. The number of events hosted in the Middle East by ADNEC grew from just 14 in 2005 to 327 at the end of 2014. The number of visitors grew from 50,000 in 2005 to 1.6 million in 2014. That adds up to more than 10.7 million visitors over 10 years. ADNEC’s impact on Abu Dhabi's economy is significant. Leading into the end of 2015, there still are plenty of deals taking place, with companies such as Experient, Convention Data Services and SmithBucklin signing contracts recently. Messe Frankfurt’s new nonwovens event, the China International Nonwovens Expo & Forum (CINE – supported by Techtextil), concluded last month with positive results. The three-day event was held in Shanghai Mart Oct. 14-16 and featured nearly 100 exhibitors covering an area of 6,000 square meters, which attracted nearly 5,000 visitors from 29 countries and regions. The unveiling of the new logo and brand for the Shanghai New International Expo Centre was held Nov. 20 at Shanghai Grand Ballroom, Kerry Hotel Pudong. More than 200 guests from government and industry were on hand to help SNIEC celebrate a new era. The new logo combines the world famous SNIEC name along with two triangles representing the shape of the venue. SNIEC provides a platform to foster the exchange of knowledge, commerce, and cultures.
