Preecha S. Chen, president of Reed Exhibitions Greater China, was replaced Jan. 1 by Nat Wong, who was deputy president and COO.

In order to tap into the business growth from Australia, as well as globally, the Malaysia Convention & Exhibition Bureau (MyCEB) recently conducted its Roadshow in Australia by visiting Melbourne and Sydney.

Jan. 7 marked the opening day for four exhibitions being concurrently held at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre.
The Hong Kong Trade and Development Council’s Hong Kong Toys & Games Fair, billed as Asia’s largest, the HKTDC Hong Kong Baby Products Fair and the Hong Kong International Stationery Fair will run until Jan. 10, and the HKTDC Hong Kong International Licensing Show, also billed as the largest of its kind in the region, runs until Jan. 9.

At the International Association of Exhibitions and Events’ Expo! Expo! 2012 there was a 10’ x 10’ booth in the back of the hall that was generating a lot of excitement amongst attendees.

Asian Exhibition Services (AES), organiser of the alternative fuels event NGV Bangkok, will launch the AFT Asia 2013 – Alternative Fuel Transport Exhibition & Conference. The two trade shows will be co-located at Bangkok International Trade & Exhibition Centre (BITEC) and run from 7th to 9th November 2013.

The Malaysian International Furniture Fair (MIFF), the leading Malaysian furniture trade show owned by UBM Asia, announced an alliance with the Muar Furniture Association (MFA) that is expected to expand the show’s exhibition space by 25 percent in 2013.
MFA is one of the most prominent furniture industry groups in Malaysia and its members generate 45 percent of Malaysia’s furniture exports. As part of the agreement, MFA will participate exclusively in MIFF from 2013 and there will be a special marquee at MIFF for MFA exhibitors.

Reed Exhibitions Greater China has announced its plans to expand its scholarship programme for young Chinese students who study Event Management across mainland China. The company intends to expand the programme through its partnership with the National Society of Event Management Educators to span across 50 leading universities across the country.

The NSW Government of Australia has announced the appointment of Pages Hire and Echo Entertainment Group to construct and operate the temporary exhibition venue Glebe Island Expo. The temporary venue will host displaced trade and consumer exhibitions during the three years needed to refurbish the Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre at Darling Harbour. The venue will reportedly be known as Sydney Harbour Expo at Glebe Island.
