At the recent Center for Exhibition Industry Research Foundation Predict conference in New York City, David Audrain, current chair of the Society of Independent Show Organizers, stood up at the end of the event and made a surprise announcement that SISO would be making a $100,000 donation to the CEIR Foundation during the next five years. Exhibitors who typically take part in Advanstar Communications’ Licensing Expo now will have the opportunity to also to be in the International Housewares Association’s International Home + Housewares Show, and vice versa. By all indications, meetings organized by global trade associations continue to see positive growth, according to 92 respondents who took part in theInternational Congress and Convention Association’s and IMEX Group’s latest survey. Mirroring the continued growth in the overall trade show industry, several recent shows saw positive showfloor size, exhibitor and attendee numbers. Messe Frankfurt’s Texworld USA, for example, saw tremendous growth, with 438 exhibitors from 15 countries, a 33.5 percent increase from the July 2012 show.
