The American Society of Association Executives unveiled the winners of the 2017 Gold Circle Awards competition, which denotes excellence, innovation, and achievement in association/nonprofit marketing, membership, and communications programs. The Gold Circle Award for Overall Excellence will be announced during ASAE’s 2017 Marketing, Membership & Communications Conference (MMCC), May 2-3, in Washington, D.C.  The 2017 competition received 172 submissions. As one of the greenest convention centers in the country, the Colorado Convention Center couldn’t just let Earth Day come and go without doing something significant. But reserving just one day of the year to honor the environment while bringing awareness to the importance of sustainability doesn’t seem to be enough for the LEED Gold-EB-certified convention venue. Two long-time facility leaders – the Houston George R. Brown Convention Center’s David Osterhout and the New Orleans Ernest N. Moral Convention Center’s Robert Johnson – both are set to retire. Osterhout, known universally as simply Dave O, is turning in his keys after nearly three decades as the facility manager at the George R. Brown CC. Osterhout, 69, retires on April 28 with a celebration joined by co-workers, clients, partners and many other friends. Cosmoprof North America is set to launch DISCOVER GREEN LEAF, a new curated showfloor area dedicated to green, eco-friendly, organic and natural products, at its upcoming July 9-11 event at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center in Las Vegas.
