Marina Bay Sands recently helped Messe Berlin(Singapore), the organiser of ITB Asia 2014, stage the tradeshow’s first-ever carbon neutral event in its seven-year history. The travel trade show took place Oct. 29-31 at Sands Expo and Convention Centre, the first of a three-year run in Marina Bay Sands. The integrated resort’s team of sustainability experts guided ITB Asia 2014 to reduce its carbon footprint by five per cent from 399 tonnes in 2012. The bauma China 2014, the 7th International Trade Fair for Construction Machinery, Building Material Machines, Construction Vehicles and Equipment exhibition, held Nov. 25-28, attracted nearly 200,000 attendees to the Shanghai New International Expo Centre (SNIEC). U.K.-based exhibition organiser, ITE Group, reported profit attributable to equity holders of US$53 million (£33.9 million) – down slightly compared with US$54.3 million (£34.7 million) the year before. Annual revenues were US$273.6 million (£174.8 million) compared with US$301 million (£192.3 million) the year before. Revenues from Asia increased 55% in 2014 rising from US$5.8 million (£3.7 million) in 2013 to US$8.9 million (£5.7 million) this year. The Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC) will end 2014 on a high note. The venue reports that it will host a total of 21 medium- to large-sized events in October, November and December. These events will attract a total of 538,000 participants. Phase one expansion of the Adelaide Convention Centre (ACC) was recently completed with the opening of the new West Building. The West Building contains the Panorama Ballroom which can cater for up to 600 in a dinner set-up and 1,000 for meetings or conferences. The official launch of the West Building will take place in March 2015. According to the ACC, another new addition, the Riverbank meeting rooms, was also completed with its first event being held on 8th January 2015. The Macau government has released its latest MICE data via the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC). In the third quarter of this year, 240 MICE events were held in the city – a modest increase of 14 vs. last year. Revenues from exhibitions in the third quarter, however, were up 81% year-on-year and exhibition revenues in the first nine months of the year were up an impressive 94%. Overall, there were nearly 725,000 participants at MICE events in the third quarter. That is an increase of more than 16%. The Halloween Industry Association and Urban Expositions have teamed up to acquire the Halloween & Party Expo from its current owners, H&P Expo. The upcoming event, scheduled Feb. 6-9 at the New Orleans Convention Center, will be operated by H&P Expo. HIA and Urban will take over the event immediately following the 2015 edition.
