The Taiwan government’s trade promotion body, Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA), is reportedly planning to lead a delegation team to mainland China next month to seek out possible trade show partnerships. The tour is to be organised on the back of the Taiwan-China Economic Cooperation Framework Agreement (ECFA) signed last year.

The “Maximise Your Business Opportunity in ASEAN through Thailand’s Champion Trade Shows” business forum recently was organized by the Thailand Convention & Visitors Bureau with the aim to attract Indonesian visitors to five ‘champion’ trade shows being supported by the bureau.
At the forum, the two countries came together on agreements in the exhibition industry with the goal to create long-term mutual economic benefits, according to TCEB officials.

China International Travel Service (CITS), one of the largest domestic and outbound travel agencies in China, has acquired stake in the Incentive Travel & Conventions, Meetings China (IT&CM China) through its MICE division. IT&CM China, a MICE and corporate travel trade show based in China, had previously been owned and organised by TTG Asia Media and MP International since 2007.

Hong Kong-based AsiaWorld-Expo plans to launch two new environmentally friendly initiatives; a carbon reduction program and ‘Green Menus’ by the venue’s banqueting team.
New aspects of the Carbon Reduction Programme include the recycling of other plastic waste, the recycling of food waste and the recycling of wood, as well as the use of induction lighting, which enables energy savings of more than 50 percent, compared with metal halide lighting.

The 8th edition of machine tools and metalworking exhibition, MTA Vietnam, has concluded with attendance of 8,243 visitors – up 19% from its previous edition in 2010. The show’s organiser is Singapore Exhibition Services (SES), a member of Allworld Exhibitions. The four-day trade show was held at the Saigon Exhibition and Convention Center (SECC) from 5th to 8th July this year.

Even though it’s still more than a month away, Reed Exhibitions’ CIBTM, The China Incentive, Business Travel & Meetings Exhibition is on track to be the biggest ever, with more than 300 exhibitors, a 21-percent increase, compared with last year’s event, as well as approximately 300 hosted buyers, a 25-percent increase, compared with 2010.

Clean Energy Expo China 2011 recently wrapped up in Beijing and attracted nearly 17,000 attendees to the China National Convention Center.
CEEC 2011 featured 320 exhibitors from 19 countries and regions, including national representations from Germany (led by the German Industry & Commerce), Canada (led by the Ontario Investment and Trade Services, Ministry of Economic Development and Trade) and the Netherlands.

After growing through the global recession in both 2008 and 2009, the trade fair industry in Asia expanded yet again in 2010, according to the recently released “The Trade Fair Industry in Asia” UFI/BSG report.
Across the region, 15.5 million square meters were sold by organisers at 1,833 events.
China leads the region by every measure including space sold. Approximately, 55 percent of the total was sold in China – 8.5 million square meters at more than 500 business-to-business exhibitions.

In its sixth year, United Business Media’s Renewable Energy Asia drew approximately 17,000 attendees June 1-4 to the Bangkok International Trade & Exhibition Centre, according to UBM Asia (Thailand) officials
The event was collocated with Entech Pollutec and Pumps and Valves Asia and is one of five events supported by the Thailand Convention & Exhibition Bureau’s “Better the Best” campaign.

Reed Exhibitions’ and the China Solid State Lighting Alliance’s China International Exhibition and Forum on Solid State Lighting (China SSL) will relocate Nov. 8-10 to Guangzhou’s Baiyun International Convention. Last year’s show was held at the Shenzhen Convention & Exhibition Center.
